Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are an anonymous Canadian grassroots network of concerned parents, teachers and citizens from all backgrounds and professions with a shared belief in the tenets of liberalism. This includes individual rights, freedom of speech and expression, the rights of parental guardians, and a tolerance for differences of views and opinions. As a community we seek to support and empower individuals to counter the illiberal practices associated with the rise of Critical Social Justice. We provide a portal for educational resources, a platform for individuals to share their concerns and experiences, and a network to connect people to build teams and develop solutions.

  • Many people with valid concerns have become afraid to voice their opinions. They fear they will face character defamation, harassment from “activist” groups and threats to their employment (i.e. “cancel culture”). This is a tactic used by the Critical Social Justice movement to silence dissent. It is illiberal. Optimal solutions require an exploration and consideration of various views and opinions. This is what we should expect in a liberal society.

Our network develops strategies to push back against CSJ ideologies, while respecting the boundaries of individuals in the network. You do not need to be a vocal public figure to contribute to the effort.

  • Lighthouse connects individuals to other participants in their local communities. We share information and resources to help equip individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to uphold liberal values in Canada. Through the collaboration of individuals within the network, we build teams to launch initiatives which address targeted issues relating to CSJ.

  • We are a non-partisan network of people with diverse views and perspectives and welcome participants from across the political spectrum.

  • Lighthouse advocates for liberal values and the sanctity of the individual. Participants of Lighthouse have diverse views and opinions around issues of social justice. Each individual participant is entitled to publicly express his, or her own, personal views. Participants do not publicly identify as Lighthouse members, speak on behalf of the Lighthouse network, or identify members of the network. This ensures that the anonymity of members is protected. Network participants are not accountable for views they may disagree with from other members.

  • Lighthouse network participants adhere to our vision, mission and values. It is an anonymous network of participants who promote traditional liberal values (such as free speech and judging people on their individual merit) As such, no one publicly speaks on behalf of the Lighthouse network. Each individual is free to express his or her personal views publicly. This is the society participants advocate for.

  • We encourage anyone who shares our values and concerns, and wishes to be a part of the movement to fight back against illiberalism in Canada, to submit an application to join our network.
