FEATURING

  • Meghan Murphy

Meghan Murphy is a journalist, writer, podcaster, and advocate for women's rights. She is the host of The Same Drugs, and founded Feminist Current in 2012, which became the only Canadian feminist website and podcast to mount a challenge against gender identity ideology. She testified at the Canadian Senate against Bill C-16, Canada's gender identity legislation, in 2017. Meghan has been very outspoken in her defence of free speech and civil liberties, as well as a harsh critic of Canada's covid mandates and crackdown on Constitutional rights. She has published her work independently for over a decade, as well as at Spiked, The Spectator, UnHerd, Quillette, and more.

  • Bruce Pardy

Bruce Pardy is executive director of Rights Probe, a law and liberty thinktank, and professor of law at Queen’s University. Bruce is a lawyer, scholar, columnist, classical liberal, and outspoken critic of the illiberal managerial state. He has dug in at the front lines of the culture war inside the law, a slow-motion train wreck that threatens to crush the freedom and prosperity of Western civilization.

  • Trish Wood

Trish Wood is a Canadian award-winning investigative reporter. She currently hosts the podcast, Trish Wood is Critical. She is best known for her role as the long time host of the CBC’s The Fifth Estate. In her book, What Was Asked of Us: An Oral History of the Iraq War by the Soldiers Who Fought It, Wood unveils the truth about the Iraq War. She provides an objective, gritty, authentic, and uncensored account of the war in Iraq, told from the perspective of the American soldiers who experienced it.

  • Moderated by Jonathan Kay

Jonathan Kay is a Quillette editor and podcast host, a TedX speaker, and a member of the advisory board of the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR). His books include Among The Truthers (2011), Legacy: How French Canadians Shaped North America (2016), Your Move (2019), Panics and Persecutions (2020), and Magic in the Dark (2022). His awards include Engineers Canada’s award for Journalism Excellence in Engineering, Canada’s National Newspaper Award for Editorial Writing, Canada’s National Newspaper Award for Critical Writing, and Canada’s National Magazine Award.

What to Expect

The event will explore:

  • Government Measures: Explore how the Canadian government and other institutions have taken actions that censor Canadians and limit freedom of assembly.

  • Media Landscape: Discuss how many media outlets have propped up the government rather than scrutinizing it, leading to widespread distrust in mainstream media.

  • Legal and Constitutional Aspects: Analyze how these measures contrast with the Canadian constitution and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

  • Gender Identity and School Policies: Engage in a passionate debate about the complexities of gender identity, its impact on school policies, and the role of parents in shaping these discussions.
